With all the bullshit about how Toronto's going to try and get Nash over the summer, wouldn't it be awesome if (assuming he wants to stay in Columbus, which certainly seems to be the case), he made a little trip up to Montreal with Howson in June?

Imagine the first round of the Draft. Columbus should be coming off the first playoff run in their history, and picking in the mid twenties for the first time as a result.

When time comes for the first pick to be made, a group assembles on the stage, but who goes to the podium?

Not Scott Howson. Not Don Boyd. Not Mike Priest.

Rick Nash, the Captain, OUR Captain, strides to the podium, waits for the appropriate applause to die down, and announces,

"With the 24th (or whatever) pick in the 2009 NHL entry Draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets Select..."

A week later, his extension is announced.

Bang.

Not exactly better, but the shock's pretty much gone, and I'm mostly just waiting and wondering if I'll get another phone call tonight. Puttering around a bit. Did dishes, took trash out, doing laundry.

I feel kind of dumb for collapsing into all the chores, but it actually does help a bit.
