Oh, wow.

We taped the roast of William Shatner last night, and watched it tonight after fixing dinner.

Holy Shit, that's funny. I'd really like to get a DVD of the entire evening, as opposed to the TV-safe cut.

Also, George Takei still has the 3rd most likely voice used by God, which makes his verbal cockslapping of various attendees even funnier.

I watched it for a while. It was funny at first, but I got bored once it became nothing but (insert actor) is gay and (insert actor) is fat over and over.

Edit: Bah! Silly cuting out pointy brackets.

All I'm gonna say is that if you missed Betty White, you missed the absolute owning of the entire place.

Yeah, I did see her. I think I stopped watching soon after Takei.

Roast of William Shatner?

(And I second George Takei as having the 3rd most likely voice used by god, behind Patrick Stewart and James Earl Jones in no particular order.)

Yep. Comedy Central's been doing Friar's Club style roasts for the past few years, and this was his turn.

(Takei is gay/cockslapping joke)

How much of the roast consisted of mocking Shatner's unique inflection?

Absolutely - none - of the - Roast.

Wait, no, - all of it.

I thought the Roast was great. I really liked the opening tribute to his movies/TV shows. I also thought it was more tame than the Roast of Pamela Anderson, which I saw is on DVD, so you should be able to get one of Shatner sometime.

I didn't think the host (George from Seinfeld) was that great some of the time. But overall, it (and he) were excellent.

I think Takei's assault of Shatner caught him a good bit off-guard.

I think several parts of it were cut for "Just plain wrong" factor, or too difficult to edit for TV.

However, I will admit that Farah Fawcett seemed too drunk, or too brain damaged, or both to really be on stage...

Damn you!!!!

We DVR'd it, but the recording cuts off in the middle of the hefty chic comic in green. :-(
Was anyone terribly good after Takei? Cause he totally frikkin rocked.

I think Takei was the high point. Lampanelli (the aforementioned chick in green) was OK, but after that it was Shatner himself firing back, which was pretty damn good, but Takei really set the bar up where the others couldn't touch it.
