About halfway into the 1st period of the SCF tonight, I got a phonecall from home.

It's your grandfather. Your grandmother just called us.

*chest goes -real- tight*

"What happened?"

Well, he was helping the contractors working up in the attic and garage, and was up on a ladder handing him some tools when the ladder slipped.

*Brain processes Concrete floors + 6-8' fall height + 75 year old man. Heart has now stopped.*

He hung onto the attic ledge as long as he could, but they couldn't get to him in time. But the good news is he only broke his ankle.

*OK, I can breathe again*

"His ankle? He's OK otherwise?"

Yes, he'll need some surgery on the ankle tomorrow to help with the ligaments, but he'll be fine after it heals.

GAAAAAAAH. I wonder if they even know what they did there?

I called my grandmother to talk to her for awhile - she's doing fine and said he was resting pretty comfortably at Akron General. She'll be there tomorrow but didn't think we need to come up - it's pretty minor surgery and there's no major risk of complications beyond most surgery.

Apparently he's mostly pissed he's going to have to miss out on golfing for 6-8 weeks, but otherwise he's going to take it easy. :D

ARGH! I hate it when people do that!!! We all need to understand that we need to say the END FIRST and THEN explain. Doing it gently is fine but SHIT the awful things they do when they leave the end for the end!
