Well, we were tied up at 1-1 when I went to bed...

However, it is not the end of the world. We lost, it happens. The team didn't come out and finish checks or get aggressive in front of Norrena the way they have been for LeClaire, and that's probably a sign that as much as I like Freddy, the team doesn't feel as confident with him in net.

I've no doubt that Hitchcock is going to put some boot to ass today in practice, and the team will be sharper tomorrow.

(Actually, this kinda reminds me of last month, so far. 1 big win at home, 1 big loss on the road...perhaps we can also follow it with a 2-3 game win streak? That'd be neat.)

I thought Norrena did a great job for the first tow periods when we were outshot what, 5 to 1?

He won a fair number of games for them, and his play helps keep LeClaire rested and sharp.

I wonder if they've been reading their own press. Like the Buckeye basketball team, at this part of the season losses are little more than teaching tools.

He did, yes (and the outshooting is just a Chicago thing - when the Hawks are at home it seems like they outshoot every team by a ridiculous amount), but it seemed like he just couldn't stack up well against the Hawks rush in the third.

Don't get me wrong - I thought Freddy had a legit shot at being the #1 coming out of camp this year, and when the Jackets and Buffalo were talking trade last season at the deadline, my first thought was that we were going to go after Marty Biron for a Norenna/Biron tandem. But the evidence so far is that when LeClaire is in net, we average under 25 SOGs allowed per game, and when Freddy's been in net we've averaged over 35. That says a lot about how the team is working defensively with each netminder.

Wouldn't shock me if they had, but I think Hitch will do a good job of getting them back down to earth without breaking the stuff that is working.
