I helped build one of those once. I think, anyway. It might have been the Falcon? I forget. Anyway, the solution for that person was to get a small side table to display it on.

It's a lot of fun to invite a bunch of people over to work on.

Looking back, noeticist had this to say:

"We had approximately 8 dedicated builders (we worked in shifts), with a few extra people who stopped in occasionally. We started around 12:30 in the afternoon, and finished around 11:30 that night. Really it was 10 more-or-less solid hours of work, with a 1 hour break for lunch/dinner (calling the pizza place required me to be on hold for 15 minutes, after trying to call 4 times and getting a busy signal. Then the pizza took 2 hours to arrive. Yay, New Year's Day)."

I actually don't totally get the Death Star II kit.

I -know- that both models (or the Falcon, now that it's out) are meant to be display pieces, but the ISD just seems so. much. more. impressive.

Actually, I also really want some of the Indiana Jones sets.

And yea, the Falcon would be sweet. I just wasn't a huge fan of the giant metal wedges as I was that moon sized battle station.

I've -really- been digging the Mars mission sets. I've bought/built most of the little ones now, and I'm starting to think about ways to bash them up and make some new stuff.

I just can't get into Mars Mission. I think lego space peaked with the second series of Blacktron. :P

Take a look at the dropship set. (I know, it's $40, but...) - it's seriously the best designed space set I've seen in a long time. (Turns out they had this dude design it as part of their "ambassador program".) I fully support cool dudes getting flown to Lego and being asked to make more cool things.

The dropship is, indeed, cool.

I dunno.. it seems like too many wacky specialty parts. I guess I'm just sorta old school :P I think this was the coolest vehicle ever designed. Which is why I sought it out used online. :P

The unintended rivals. Those two really are. They came out about the same time. They both had 6 huge wheels with suspension. Both had rear wheel steering. The question was, what was cooler?

A magnetized crane arm or detachable pods for ship and/or mobile command unit.

Personally, I fell in love with the little command unit, and I like the pod look better than the massive canopy. But really, it's a personal preference. That and I liked the Blacktron base better. :P

Oh no doubt. I must have built tons of mobile command post type vehicles thanks to that set and those 6 giant wheels.

*grins* I used to be able to shoot a bow, a long time ago...not anything spectacular, but I passed the Scout badge and certification, and I passed the archery class I took in college for my Phys Ed requirement.
