1) "Oh, your mother's having knee surgery Friday. But she said she was gonna come up and see you this weekend with your dad."
-Gee, nice of them to tell me about any of this. I didn't even know they were planning to come up this weekend at all!
2) "Your sister's roommate introduced her to bunch of friends....but I'm afraid that one of the friends was the girl at South Carolina who fell off the balcony of her room and died. Your sister is okay, but she and her roommate heard a girl from the victim's hometown had died, so they went to see if she was okay, and the police had her room sealed up while they checked the inquest."
