bzarcher: A Sylveon from Pokemon floating in the air, wearing a pair of wingtip glasses (Default)

On suggestion from [livejournal.com profile] thegreath, and after most satisfying time spent with [livejournal.com profile] skarlette this evening, even if a friend's need left it not ending as we both had in mind, I'm doing an entry on my most favorite toy of the past, and of the present.

Past: Vehicle Voltron

I had the full blown, die cast version of this guy. Back when my parents didn't give me the -big- toys in their boxes, but would assemble and decal them for me at Christmastime, and would wrap the toy itself, usually in this neato red plastic stuff that I've not seen for years. But, I digress.

He was -cool-. First, he's a GIANT ROBOT. A giant robot almost as tall as -I- was at the time. This gives him incredible kewl points.
Second the fact that he split off into all those mini-vehicles, most of which were also quite cool. (I was a big fan of the space ones, and the ground ones. The sea ones were an aquired taste, but also nice.)

Then, if that wasn't good enough, the 12 little vehicles could make 3! NEW! BIG! VEHICLES! As much as I loved all the rest of my TFs, and my Silverhawks, and my GIJoes, and everything else, I think this guy was the biggest favorite.

I remember him finally breaking past the point of no return. Very sad for me.

Current Favorite Toy: Armada Starscream

This one took a lot of thought. Especially since I had to take a long consideration on whether I'd allow my Car, my Computer, or the Dreamcast (DREAMUCASTU!!!) to be contenders. But, I decided to limit it to 'normal' toys so this wouldn't be an all day essay. And then it was -still- a hard decsions.

Final 5 on this:

1. Starscream
2. BotCon Cyclonus
3. Armada Megatron
4. VF-14
5. Demolishor

Of all of them, I tend to fool with/play with them daily. But Starscream is the one that tends to get fooled with the most. He's fun, and reminds me of both the original starscream and my old Jetfire and a couple other Valkyries I had. (Though, being a Robotech kid, I called them Veritechs. ;D)

Ah, well....

Well, *of course* they're called Veritechs (he says, remembering Herr Sterling). Valkries are something else entirely.

Man, if only they'd had the Quadluun Female Power Armors as figures. mmmmm...Miriya...

Actually, when they did the EXO-Squad robotech rereleases, there -was- a Quadluun-Ran figure released. But it was and is rare as hell.
