Sep. 13th, 2002 07:36 pmWhoops.
So I've been on chorus crew for all 4 years. (Doing stands, risers, pianos, etx.) Busted my -ass- for it. Repeatedly. Even pulled some major work for it off of official time so that things will be done. Especially on tour. Been an unofficial crew chief when he didn't appoint one, or when the one the director appointed didn't feel like showing up. (This was -especially- bad my Sophomore year.)
The director appointed a friend of mine who'd been on crew the last 3 years, this year. She came to see me tonight to make sure we were 'cool about it.' I didn't know why we wouldn't bem and told her as much. Kiery does a good job, and she's a good person.
She told me that she had actually declined the job when offered it, saying she felt I should be chief this year. Just like she had during the period when he didn't appoint one. (I hadn't known she'd talked to him. That surprises me.) Apparently he refused to discuss that option. He didn't feel I had ever shown 'the right kinds of attitude and commitment'.
I'll keep my word and sing the concert Wednesday. And then I'm leaving chorus, and I'm half tempted to spit in his face.
Thank gods for real friends, and those who care enough to be truthful.
