I swear by fire, field, brook and stone, if I hear one of my friends slamming, demeaning, belittling or hurting themselves for the rest of the week, I'm going to start doing very, very, very stupid things to others.

If you people were all worthless bad people, I'D NOT FUCKING ASSOCIATE WITH YOU.

You are ALL good, caring, worthwhile people who I believe are worth devoting my time, honor, care, and life to.

If you don't want to believe that of yourself, fine.

But I damn well will.

I'm tired of hearing you hurt yourselves.

I'm tired of watching you tear yourselves down.

STOP.

We are out there. We love you, and we care.

Look at us if you need reassurance. Don't just throw yourselves into nothing!

Oh, come on, if there's one thing I've learned from American culture, it's that pain is sexy. And therefore nihilism and existential angst are the 20-something version of being a playground bully, in both positive and negative senses. I however, empathize - people who I loved and cared about acted in this manner and I found it comepletely unbecoming of them, as it was so obvious that they were special and wonderful. It just never seems like the same transacation when you are the one doing it. I hope this made a sufficiently small amount of sense.

Too much of it is the simple fact it's easier to see admirable traits in others more than it is in yourself. If you're genuinely a nice person, that is . . . idiots who love tooting their horn seem to find their own good traits, and overwhelm them with their arrogance. :P
