Sep. 16th, 2003 04:44 pmJust got an email that amused me, and since I'm where I can easily take a break to write, I thought I'd let you all in on it.
You see, the shop I got Lisa an anniversary present from is based in New Hampshire. And apparently they've decided the time is good to have a hurricane sale on all rain-related items. Prices are, indeed, slashed. (Also a few overstock items, but who can blame them?)
I find something horrid yet deeply amusing about this. I can only imagine the hell that will be raised if items do not, in fact, arrive prior to Isabel's landfall.
A category 5 hurricane. The finger of an angry god across the waters and land. And we're using it to sell Scottish tweed anoraks. I love it! It feels like something Carlin would write about.

skarlette, I could use a drink or five, and I've been hanging out on AIM today even though I really shouldn't, technically, but it's been the sort of day where I could get away with it.

Sep. 16th, 2003 07:07 pmOkay, yes, I'm staying late at work again. But, I'm being more than just productive. You see, while I troubleshoot a faculty PC on my right, on my left I'm working on a new mix CD...and that leads me to a question: Is there a job in the music buisness for a guy who arranges the tracks and layout of an album in terms of transitions, how the album flows from one end to the other, etx? As I've noticed my favorite part of making my various mixes (aside from listening to them) is laying things out and arranging. Seeing just how perfectly I can set one track into the next. How I can tweak the sound here and there. And just a touch of finesse on the ending.
Does someone do that professionally, or is that left to the artist? Because if it's something I could do for a living, even if I'm probably totally unqualified, I'd love to try.
