May. 7th, 2004 01:15 pm MESSAGE FROM DR. LIGHT
EMPLOYMENT COMPLETE!
GET YOUR WEAPONS READY!
Get Equipped With: JOB!
Now that that's out of my system! Yes, I got a job! I'm going to be working in the tech support group at Sterling Group, over near Tuttle Crossing. Edit: Screwed the name up!
I start Wednesday, and I'll take a half day off on Friday to go back up to Wooster to do the packing and moving as planned.
All those who wanted to come to Wooster and help me move, please do. We shall celebrate!
This weekend, I get to figure out what sort of 401(k) I want, and I fill out the forms so that I get my 50,000 life insurance and medical plan with the job.

May. 7th, 2004 05:28 pmSeems it's a day for big news in my family. When I called to let my grandparents know, they told me that they'd set the date for going back to Norway: June 21st. It'll start as a 2 week visit abroad, and they'll come back, but are still considering going back permanently.
More importantly, though, is what my sister told me in the car when I took her to work a bit ago.
Alison's health has finally stabilized, and she's been thinking about what she really wanted to do with her life. And apparently she came to the decision a few weeks ago. So, without my parents knowing, she went downtown to the Columbus Americorps office, and put in her application to work in the inner city schools here.
Dad was apparently furious that she did it without consulting them, and Mom much the same, but Alison says that they're starting to come around. More importantly, I'm incredibly, incredibly proud. She's always been the type to give her time volunteering and caring for others, and it's clearly what she wants to do with her life. She's taken her life into her own hands, and to the the direction she wishes it to go.
Less than a year ago, we didn't even entirely know if Alison was going to be able to ever live on her own without major assistance. Thanks to the Cleveland Clinic doctors and her own sheer will, she's doing this.
I've never been more proud of my sister.
It's a good day.
