Apr. 11th, 2002 10:11 amThis morning has been unusual for 2 major reasons:
1) I got to sleep in, due to my morning class being canceled, so I actually just woke up. (That's 2 hours more sleep than normal, mmmkay?)
2) I had a dream which I could actually remember.
I started this dream, as far as I can tell, in a car which I must assume was mine. I arrived in what I assume was Pittsburgh, and was met by people who I have no clue of their identity. (However, on relfection, one of the women might have been
dr4b.) I was wearing my usual attire of jeans, t-shirt, and my favorite grey longcoat, even though said coat is 25 years old and reaching the point where wearing it is not gonna be possible because all the zippers are jammed and the buttons keep coming off no matter how I resew then. But. I'm getting off track.
Anyhow. Met people in this parking garage, (possibly at CMU?) and asked for directions to
sk4p's place. Was told to follow them, but that I could not do it with "that". ("That" being my car.) Shrugging, I hoisted my usual black traveling bag over my shoulder, and followed. I was lead to a series of motorcycles, and given a Harley, which I was assured would be fine, because it was "stolen from a guy bigger than you yesterday." I also noticed that over my shirt and under my coat I was somehow wearing my leather breastplate/vest from my SCA armor.
After a fairly fun motorcycle ride with people out to some suburban area, I was lead to a house where a garage door opened, and
sk4p,
ijikeru, and others were there, all working on motorcycles of their own. (I think
sk4p's might have been a Kawasaki Ninja, or maybe a Ducati. (Strangest part of this to my mind is the fact that I'm remembering all these motorcycles after not watching motorcycle racing for nearly 2 years.) I think that
mistergone and possibly
johnmeier1 were also there, though I've only seen pictures of any of them.
After hugs and such, I removed the coat and armor, and pulled my travel bag out of the saddlebags and asked what the plan was.
sk4p replied that we'd be going up to Big Bear and getting stuff for dinner, then would go and pick up
ixxra and
bredmold on the way back. So we go into town in a car that I guess was
sk4p's, but it wasn't the Echo. We arrive at Big Bear. (Do they even -have- Big Bear in Pitt. ? I know they're a fairly common grocery chain in Ohio, but I don't actually know how wide they spread.)
Arriving at the Big Bear would not be unusual, except for the fact that once we arrive at the store, as we all spread out to get stuff on the shopping list, I'm looking for Hummus for
ijikeru, and I trip. I trip because for some reason, I'm only wearing shorts and boxers, and the shorts have somehow fallen down and tangled my legs. (Those who know me understand that this is very odd for 2 reasons: 1) I rarely wear shorts unless there's no other option, or it's -very- hot outside. When one of your legs looks like it went through a meat grinder, you don't show it off. 2) I've never gotten tangled in my own clothes, and I always wear a belt or tighten the string on any pants/shorts I wear.) I stand up, and I continue to putter around the store, grumbling about not knowing the layout, but eventually retrieve the Hummus....and when I put the hummus (I clearly remember it being the kind with tomato and red pepper bits) into my little shopping basket, I woke up.
Odd. TV is now on, and I'm watching a documentary about the Falklands war. What happened to the days when they still showed cartoons at 10am?
