Hey, all.

skarlette's OS upgrade to win2000 looks likely, but unfortunately it looks like part of the problem is that her old modem (A $30 OfficeMax special internal 56k), has cooked itself.

Out of curiousity, does anyone have a spare internal or external one that's win98 and win2k compatible?

Erf, dang. I just gave my spare away to my Dad. : ( I'll see if we've got any spares kicking about at work that I can "borrow"...

If you're feeling a little extravagant, look for an honest to god hardware modem. You won't have any driver problems, you won't have any cpu dependence for transfer rates, and all sorts of other asisnine crap. Yeah, they cost a little more than $30, but are so worth it.

The big crunch'll come down to money. She doesn't want me to spend much more money on her, as I spent a good bit during my vacation, and her own budget's tight. We'll see.
