I think I'm in a bout of minor depression tonight.

Ironically, what triggered it was not the events of the past few days...but a pair of pillows.

You see, my parents were up at a baseball game (Akron Aeros! Go Aeros!) with my grandparents last night, and stopped on the way home today to have lunch. They delivered some stuff from my grandmother, including a new comforter, blanket, quilt, and a set of 2 huge pillows. Okay.

So there's a note inside.

These pillows are special. They're meant to rest atop the made bed, and match the set. Do -not- sleep on them. They're not made for it and are hard to clean. These are entirely decorative and ornamental.

So. I live in a 1 room apartment, alone, with few close local friends and a girlfriend 500 miles away....and I have a massive set of blue frilly pillows that you aren't even supposed to touch.

I'm just surprised it took this long to get depressed about it.

And this would be why you don't find these sort of pillows anywhere in my house...what is the point of having decorative pillows in a room which very few people are going to see? (At least I don't care for the idea of people traipsing through the bedroom.)

Don't be sad.

I know how it can be to live by yourself in a small place. But you still have friends around.

And, heck, I sometimes sleep on the damn decorative pillows. Decorative pillows and decorative towels are just plain useless, as I see it.

We have pillows like that on the guest bed in the attic. They aren't good for sleeping on, but they are wonderful for leaning aginst when one is reading in bed. I therefore found them to be useful. =)
