I have the weirdest urge to go waltzing.

No. I'm serious. I want to pick a girl up (preferrably Lisa or a member of the 'short list'), and go waltz, dance, and generally glide acrost the dance floor. Don't ask me to explain it, I just do right now. I'm sure it'll eventually pass. But I'll hang on to it for a bit. It's far healthier than a lot of my normal cravings.

As to the weekend, it went rather well, I think. The drive was fairly easy both ways (I-79 is surprisingly barren on Friday nights, even after I got into the Pittsburgh Metro area. Is that normal? It creeped me out a bit, because I-70, 71, or 76 would have been far more crowded.) Then, once I got to [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin and [livejournal.com profile] chaoticgoodnik's (hereby just Trevor and Nikki to cut down on code), we introduced Meg ([livejournal.com profile] mumeimagpie) to Indian food for the first time. Then she learned about The West Wing, and Family Guy.

And lo, it was good.

Saturday started as all Saturdays should: with an adventure. In this case, it was getting Nikki to the bank and then pillaging Giant Eagle party food and supplies. With the smallish size and close quarters fighting that distinguishes the Squill Giant from so many others across the country, this was particularly exciting.

Then, we came back and while Trevor worked on cleaning, Nikki and I got to serious cooking. Highlights included fruit pizzas, an awesome Apple Cinnamon cake that Nikki found the recipie for and I prepared to the great delight of many, a French chocolate cake Nikki did, and the infamous toasted cheese dildo logs.

Yes, I was responsible for those. But I swear to god, the recipie told me to mold them into 1" wide 10" long logs and wrap them in the wax paper like that! I really wasn't trying to make sex toys. Really. I think. But I can't speak for my subconscious.

The party itself went very well, with a few early arrivals and then the flood. I was told lots of livejournal names, but I'm sorry, the only two new ones I actually held onto were [livejournal.com profile] mg4h and [livejournal.com profile] rani23. If you happen to read this and were there, feel free to give a shout. We played Find the Werewolves, Apples to Apples, and other fun games. Much food was consumed (though we still left Trevor and Nikki with a monstrous amount of leftovers), and those in attendance who hadn't seen me for awhile all complimented me on my weight loss and haircut.

To all of those: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It's one thing to be told by people locally that things look nice, or (more importantly) that they clearly see I'm losing weight. It means as much or more to be told that by people who haven't seen me and don't have a vested interest in keeping me falsely hopeful. ;D

We all stayed up far too late, got Meg on her way to another friend's house, and then crashed. (Please insert *thump*.) After Nikki, Trevor, and I woke up, we did a bit of cleaning and straightening up, watched some Alias, and then it was time to drive home.

The whole weekend was a really good thing for me. I feel really rested, I feel like the stress of Friday poured out, and in its place, I'm ready for tomorrow, and quite thankful for everything I got.

There's only one more thing I'd add, but I don't have the power to, yet. But I can say that I wished she'd been there the whole time. But there will be time for that, too.

Finally, some administrivia. Opened a PartyPoker.com account (play money only, for now), under the username BZArcher. (What a surprise!) Feel free to drop me a line if you're on there. :D

I still want to dance.
