Gah.

APT is going to (hopefully) have an interview time for my by tomorrow. The manager handling this hire @ Nationwide has been tied up in meetings.

TekSystems is really trying to hard-sell me into taking the Progressive job, including refusing to let me look the contract over until I flat out told him that if I couldn't look at the contract, I wasn't going to sign. So he emailed me a generic contract as a compromise.

And he's really pushing to try and get an answer from me by Friday afternoon.

It's the sort of problems that I know quite a few people would like to have, but I'm very, very strung up on things.

Side note: Since I started running around for interviews on these 2 jobs last Friday, I've litterally driven the same amount of miles as Chicago and Back.

[livejournal.com profile] skarlette, prepare to be used as a pillow tonight. I could really use to just curl up, get a hug, and try to make my head stop hurting.

Dude, you know what is best for you, but I would be REALLY leery of a company that wouldn't let me look at the contract in advance to committing or not. There's probably something unpleasant in it they don't want you to know til you're committed.

This is something I'm twigging to, as well.

I'm gonna wait until Friday, but the more I look at it, if they're treating me like this now, what happens if I actually take the job?

I REALLY think they're trying to string you into the job if it's so bad they won't let you see the contract. Hold out as long as possible.

At this point, I may just say, "I'm sorry, but no."

Not showing you the contract sounds suspicious. Like they think you're so desperate you could sign anything. Jeez.

I wouldn't have thought it odd if he said there was an NDA or something, and that to view the exact details, I'd need to look at it in their office. But to even see a generic contract took that kind of fighting?

Yeah, the more I think, the more I think I'm gonna say no.

Plus, this does not read to me like a helpdesk job. This reads to me like a call-center job that just happens to be in support of their systems.

There's a subtle difference, and my guess is you'll find the latter far less rewarding.

I did get some of that vibe. I wasn't sure if that was just how they did things or not.

I'm totally with everybody else, here. There's no reason for them *not* to be showing you the contract, unless there's something seriously wrong. You've got enough other leads. Skip this one. It reeks.

Yeah, it's kinda goin' that way.
