A long, good, day.
May. 29th, 2004 11:36 pmIt started way too early, but it started.
Alex and I were out the door of my house by eight, through the McD's drive through, and down to the DMV in Hilliard so that he could renew plates/license before we went hunting.
We drove through and/or toured a field of more than fifteen apartment complexes, and we've narrowed it down to five finalists. All townhomes. One is so cheap it's hard to believe, but the depost and application costs are steep to make up for it. One is at the outer edge of our price envelope until Alex's OIT job goes full time in June or he gets an Actuarial job in July after his certification is processed, but the place is so perfect it's scary. Two are places that are good but not heartstopping (though one has a skylight that's just entrancing), and one was physically lovely, but the management rep there in the model was...ah...apathetic. At best. Not a good sign.
Then it was down to Marcon to meet up with everyone. Well, if by everyone I mean about 5 people and then several people I ran into who I knew.
But I took my camera, so there are some pictures.
A dinner was had, tales told, and friendships made and renewed.
My only regret, and it's a minor one, is that when I ran into
purplemanatee, there was a woman with him (Apparently
trxz) who looked the spitting image of
skarlette before she cut her hair. She was even wearing an outfit that Lisa would have looked stunning in. (In fact, you might own something very very similar, dear.) She was very pretty, but it cut me to the heart with longing for m'lady.
Next major item on the agenda: I think we must get a visit in, love. Either you come out to bless my new home, or I come out to spend some time going around Chicago with you. Tonight was the last straw. I ache for the chance to see you, and there is a hole in my day where you should be. One way or another, I will carve the time for us to be together out of the very rock of ages.
Love you, beautiful Lisa.
Goodnight, all.

Date: 2004-05-30 06:45 am (UTC)I have NEVER seen a Hiryu.
Go Hiryu. And I'll see about busting out something for next year. Especially if I get my hands on Joshua and Jackal.

Though honestly, I think Jim was the only shadowrunner this year. Between LoTR and Harry Potter, the costumes were heavy on the fantasy side this time around.
