Don't you think I needed to KNOW that?

Been working with a user from Jersey office for 45 minutes. She's trying to remote in and work from home today, and her modem's connecting (why she's not on broadband, I've no idea), but the TCP/IP stack keeps failing with the VPN dialer turns on. I'm being given a fairly brusqe treatement, at best, while I try to help her, and the fact that she's the first call of the morning should tell you exactly how good a mood I was in about it.
Troubleshoot it to the point where it's either a borked windows install, borked VPN dialer, or borked hardware. Ask her if she could drop into the Jersey office and put it on the network so that they could look at it there and if neccessary I'd remote in.
"I can't do that," she says.
Why not, I ask.
"The Jersey office is closed. There was a fire yesterday that damaged a bunch of the floor I work on, and I only have my laptop because I went back in after the firemen and pulled it off its' docking station and wiped the foam off. I didn't tell you because I figured it wouldn't matter."
And then she hung up on me.
