Ok, OK, I get it, you haven't heard from me in a few days.

I admit, after being a "three times a day" guy for quite some time that's rather odd, but it's how my life is right now.

However, despite my body's best efforts, I am alive for the time being.

After our adventures on Saturday, I spent Sunday feeling progressively sicker, until I was unable to sleep through the night without medicine. Waking up on monday, Happy Birthday was quickly replaced with "I'm calling you into work, go back to bed, and I'm getting a doctor's appointment."

After the conclusion that "It's acting just like Strep, but it seems to be viral", I was handed prescriptions for the pain and after a side trip to restock on soup, liquids, and popsicles I was bunkered down on the couch for the rest of the day attempting not to die. As it headed to evening, I felt up to trying a bit of painting, so I based the existing 'nids and tried to start a bit of work on the Zoanthropes. That's about when my head started to do laps, so I put the brushes down and went back to Plan: Couch.

Tuesday, I woke up feeling weak, but better, and decided to try to be a good boy and go to the office.

...yeah, nobody said I was anything but book smart.

After about an hour and a half or so, I figured out that this was a terrible idea, as I felt like I was fighting to stay upright and working as opposed to lying down for a nap. (Not to mention I had pretty much anyone who walked past my desk asking if I was going home...)

I made one detour on the way home to get my new license and update my registration - didn't want to take chances. That went well enough, and I went home and celebrated with a nap and some more soup. Mm, soup.
Other than falling asleep on the couch in the middle of Curling, not much else to report for Tuesday.

Yesterday, I finally felt at least 70% human, so I celebrated by going back to work and finally catching up on all I missed. While this did nearly break my resolve, particularly the team status meeting (ie: stare intently at the phone and attempt to make people in Dallas combust), I toughed it out and was actually feeling a ton better by the end of the day. After I picked Lisa up from work, we got a call from Dave, and Light-Impact shenanigans were in the offing.

This turned out to be Mexican food, a trip to Trader Joe's, and watching olympic high-speed faceplanting Freestyle. I also ended up painting one of the Zoanthropes up into what Dave affectionately called an "Eclipse Gum Smile."

Dave has also suggested I find a way to make the 'thropes have Sudoku puzzles on their bases, the better to imply that they are thinking you to death. Not sure if I can quite pull that off, but who knows?

Today's forecast involves apathy, increased apprehension at the fact I'm leaving for 2 weeks to serve on the Grand Jury, and bagels at a department meeting this morning.

Mm, chocolate chip bagels.

We're meeting my parents for my birthday dinner tonight, and then depending either doing a bit more painting and TV, or maybe just have a quiet rest of the night before we pack up and head to Chicago tomorrow night.

And then, once we return, it will be...

MATT vs. THE GRAND JURY

Stay tuned.

Thank you, so am I.

I'm going to be serving on the Grand Jury for 2 weeks, with a possible request for extension.

Yikes. As [livejournal.com profile] las says, glad you're feeling better. And glad you had a good day-before-your-birthday to make up for the lousy day-of-your-birthday.

A good two-days-before-your-birthday, is what I meant. No worries, I just fail at reading comprehension, is all.

No worries. :D I got your meaning. And I hope YOU had a better birthday than I did!

Yeah, it went well. ^_^ Made a cake and relaxed at home. Oh, and I found out my next calc exam would be postponed from tomorrow to Monday, which was a nice present. [laugh]

Glad to hear you're feeling better, mang, I think the crud is just sort of going around: I felt like death Monday-Wednesday and still have a little congestion, the woman who sits behind me at work couldn't talk for the better part of a week due to some bronchitis run amok.

Hope you enjoy Chicago at full fighting weight, and send some ruffian to the lynchin'-post! (I clearly have no idea how the justice system actually works, I assume it's like High Noon)
