Careful going home, now.

So, tonight, Dave, John, and I went out to Cooper Stadium to catch Columbus' minor league (AAA) team, the Columbus Clippers (ie - Yankees Light) take on the Rochester Red Wings (ie - People desperately trying to be Minnesota Twins).

For about $35 between all three of us, we got parking, tickets, food, and drinks, and managed to catch a really good game of baseball, that happened to be nothing like baseball on TV.

I still am not that into baseball on TV, but I think I could really get into coming out to the Coop more often this summer.

As a big Baseball fan who often watches it on TV... it never compares to how great it is to go to the field and watch it in person. Third Base rows or left/center field are the best spots. :D

They actually don't have seats out past the outfield at Cooper Stadium - it borders a cemetary, oddly enough. (Mmmm...Zombie Outfield...) But there are some nice "cheap seats" on the third base line that we might try next time.

Ah. I kind of thought that was the case from the picture you had, but sometimes they've got seats off to the sides. In any case, I'd definitely suggest foul line seats then... As rare as it is, the chance to have a baseball hit in your general area is a fun aspect of things too. :D

Oh, I dunno about rare. :D Seemed like half the foul shots went into one set of stands or another tonight.

...Can't forget the line of the night, courtesy of Jon, yelled in the general direction of the pitcher's mound:

"Send them back home on a bus that hydroplanes halfway to Rochester ON THEIR OWN TEARS!"

You know that baseball is my life, and I still hate watching it on TV. Which is probably why I end up at 50 games a year. There's just nothing like the feeling of being at the ballpark, really.

Definently. :D

We may end up hitting a Reds game at some point, too - we found out the tickets for the cheap seats are, well, surprisingly cheap.

I hear ya. There's a minor league team in Memphis, the Red Birds, that have a SWINGING ball park down town. The previously mentioned left-center area is actually a grassy hill, made for picnicing and the like. Pretty sweet.

I think Memphis even comes up and plays Columbus, if I remember right.

Cheap seats for the Reds are about $12. That's not counting gas to drive down there, though. ;)

Very true!

True, but if we car pool and everyone chips in a little, even that's not so bad.
