Despite the fact that Iran IS supplying Hezbollah with arms, and encouraging the murder of civilians, that would blow things up further.

Normally I'd agree with Schem.

But right now, they're pissed off, they're already itching over the Iranian nuclear plant, and I'm not sure if cooler heads are in good supply right now.

Consider the UNIFIL incident - ten phone calls, ten promises to stop the bombing in that area, not one "We're not going to stop, try to evacuate." (Not that evacuation would have been particularly feasible or more safe.)

I'd put the embassy of a known hostile on the "not necessarily safe" list right about now. IOW, I agree with you.

Methinks Israel has lost all paitence they had with Hezbollah sometime last week. Likely the only reason they're leaving Iran alone is they don't want to vindicate or martyr the current head of state there.

That said, I wouldn't be suprised if we see several repeats of the airstrike used to knock out a reactor in Iraq during the 80s Real Soon Now.

Well, Hezbollah's tricky - they do have some amount of "real" C&C for things like their rocket teams, stopping which is supposedly the goal.

Hard to say if that will work, though.

Depends on how de-centralized and self-contained the organization. Given that Hezbollah has been a major name in the region since the 1970s, and Mossad's reputation for not screwing around, I expect it'll take a number of strikes and some very current, accurate knowledge of where to aim.
