So, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] quoniam23, Alex and I went to a 4 round RTT in Cleveland on Saturday. Tons of fun, except for some kinda crappily designed custom missions for the tournament, but we met a lot of really nice guys, played a ton of 40k, and I got to hang out with Scott again for the first time in a couple years, which I really enjoyed!

I took my 'nids, and was pretty pleased by my showing. 2 draws, one massacre, and one loss. I had some good thoughts for how to adjust the army, and tweaked my game a little.

(The only bad side is that some of my more...temperamental conversions started coming apart as the day went on! But, I think I have a solution - I got some 3rd 'ed Fexes from Scott, and I think I will convert them into the Shock Troop Carnifexes, rather than the pinned together Tyrant Guard coversions, and see how they look.)

This army was my first opponent - a really nice guy, and it was his first time at a tournament as well. He ended up winning Best Painted Army at the tournament, which was really cool for him. I took out most of his army, but he was able to keep his skimmers alive and forced a draw on points.

More pictures up in my Flickr - I tried to take pictures for battle reports, but after the first round I really lost track of that plan - preferred to just play and not worry about it.

Thanks to Scott for having us up, and making plans to do more soon, and congratulations to him for winning the whole tournament!

Glad you all had a fun time up there!

I'm behind on my deadline :-( I'm not sure I can get together today.

Matt,

Thanks again for coming up. I'm glad to see you had a good time. What was that Castrol cleaner you suggested? I may try to redo some plastic minis if it works well.

No problem! We had a lot of fun, even if my legs are killing me now from all the driving.

The cleaner I use for metal and plastic figs is Castrol Super-Clean. It's an automotive engine cleaner, and you can find it at auto stores, or Wal-mart, Meijer, etx. in their automotive sections.

We do have a ticket for the Jackets game on 3/25 - it's at 6pm. Want to come down a bit early and we can do lunch out, show you around Columbus a bit, then go to the game? :D
