That was fun!
Sep. 6th, 2007 10:54 pmI'm not a big "Bar person."
I enjoy doing a show now and then, or hanging out with friends at one, but I generally don't look at what do for an evening and say "I think I'm gonna go to the bar for a few hours."
I learned tonight that it just might have been that I hadn't found the right bar.
One of the guys at HFBoards owns the R Bar, which is the biggest Hockey-centric one in town aside from the bar that's part of Nationwide arena. The Blue Jackets asked if they could film some promo reel and commericals there tonight, and he said yes (oh, yes!) and they asked him to rustle up some people, so he put a cattle call out for people to show up with jerseys and whatnots.
We didn't pack the bar, but there were a good 10-20 people vs. 10-15 people there who were just there to drink a bit. (Though a few got into the action as well, and were given some prop jerseys, hats, etx, by the film team. Once again I saw the new CBJ road whites, and it made me aflame with desire to buy one.)
The atmosphere was really friendly (and it certainly didn't hurt that the bar has a Canadian dish, so alongside the NO/IND game and various college football, they were playing the NHL network and TSN!), and just sitting, nursing a beer, and relaxing at the bar felt really, really comfortable.
I could see myself doing it more often pretty easily.
As for the commercials, not bad, fun enough, got told to look purposeful and intense a lot, and to yell and scream and pump my fist a lot. They tended to have me "Stand and look badass" or "Walk through!" quite often.
If they use all the spots I was in, I think I'll end up in something like 6 commercials, total, but I've no idea how much will end up on the cutting room floor.
Otherwise, it's late, I'm sleepy, and I wish all a good night. :D
