Oct. 13th, 2007 11:22 pmGAAAAAAAAAAh.
I don't mind losing to a good team, but the Jackets looked like dogshit tonight.
So far, we seem to be really, really good at home, and really weak on the road. I'm worried about that.

Date: 2007-10-14 07:40 pm (UTC)But seriously nobody thought the Jackets would be world-beaters. Good at home is a good start. They have a way to go. But I'm thinking one of those $55 evenings might be fun.

Word of warning: they're all teenage girls with some weird ideas.
And then there's me... *points at icon*

Date: 2007-10-19 04:49 pm (UTC)I myself am not teenage, nor a girl, and I actualy got into hockey as a Leafs fan before Columbus got a team, soo....
(Also, OMG, is that one of the Maple Leaf Gardens anniversary patches on your jersey? Nifty!)

Date: 2007-10-19 05:03 pm (UTC)It's the 2000 All Star Game patch on my jersey.
I have 2 Leafs Jerseys, one is uncrested (the one in the icon) and the other has Matt Stajan's name and number on it.
I started out a fan of the Wisconsin hockey team (born there, lived there till age 7, learned to skate at their old practice facility because my parents were grad students there), then was a fan of the Los Angeles Kings (where I used to live AND because of Gretzky), grew into liking Luc Robitaille a LOT (have a Kings jersey with his name/# too), started not liking the Kings due to the management, etc... and then in 1993... I suddenly found myself a Leafs fan...
Before I dropped out of hockey fandom at all due to personal problems. In 1997, I picked it up again and have been a Leafs fan since... although with the ownership and the GM (I don't like either JFJ or Peddie)... they are trying my patience. It was also during that time I picked up a dislike of Ottawa... but, y'know... =D

Date: 2007-10-19 05:11 pm (UTC)The all star patch is still really awesome. :> I have 2 blank Leafs jerseys (1993 white, 2006 3rd), and then a 2006 home Ponikarovsky. >:)
I'm also getting ready to drop the punishing amount of $$ needed for a new CBJ authentic in a little bit, and it'll probably be a Peca, Chimera, or Boll, and a 2005 CBJ blank 3rd that is turning into a Tollefsen soon.
All very cool. Welcome!

Date: 2007-10-19 05:20 pm (UTC)Literally.
I play C/D league hockey on Sunday nights and am... okay at it, I guess. I still have moments where I wonder WTF I'm doing. =D
I miss most of the "third" jerseys in the league (the only ones I *don't* miss are Nashville, Philly, and the Isles... all for the same reason: ZOMG!UGHLY!!!!!!!!!!!!)...
=D

Date: 2007-10-19 05:23 pm (UTC)Heh. You're right on the money about those thirds...though I think some of the new ones...well, wow. Terrible is a -nice- word for the new Nashville, Isles, and Florida jerseys.

Date: 2007-10-19 05:37 pm (UTC)As for the new jerseys... if Florida would just remove the stripes going from shoulder to hip, they'd look better. Nothing can help Nashville or the Isles... bleck.
And there is something *off* about the Ottawa jersey. I don't know what it is, but I liked the old one (even the *third*) better than the current one.
*misses the horizontal bottom stripes on the Leafs jerseys*

Date: 2007-10-19 05:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, I really hate almost every team using the "Bettman Stripes". About the only one that looks OK is the Oilers, and I think that's because they made it compliment their collars.
Ottawa mostly looks like they're in Pajamas, I think.
I actually got to be in Hogtown when they unveiled the new jerseys for the Leafs and Marlies, and it was really neat to walk into the ACC the next day and see several walls of them.
It looks kinda funny when they're just standing still, but when I actually watch them skating around, I like them. It's simple, but it looks really clean against the ice.

Date: 2007-10-19 05:59 pm (UTC)My current pair of hockey skates *and* the backup pair were about $30-$40 each, plus shipping. Current pair are CCM 92s, backup (blade unsharpened yet) are Bauer Silvers.
I don't like the Oilers stripe either, though. I liked their old jerseys... hell, I liked their *thirds* (enough to buy one... and get Ryan Smyth's name/# on it)...
And I think you might have hit on the problem with Ottawa's jersey.
Well, I'll find out about how the Leafs jerseys look in motion in late December... going up for a game vs. the Rangers.

Goes up to size 12... and it's on weekly special.
That's about how much I paid for mine, actually.
I'm waiting until my weight stabilizes (it's been going down some) before getting a new pair of hockey pants. Or maybe I'll just wait until my old ones wear out.
