So most of you, unless you live in Ohio, have a primary tomorrow.

In the words of Mssr. [livejournal.com profile] flemco, vote, you fuckers.

Vote because you believe in -someone-, anyone, I don't really care (though I do have my preferred candidate, and I doubt it'll be hard for you to guess who), but please vote. It matters.

There's my endorsement. It's worth exactly squat. I don't care if you vote for Obama, Clinton, Romney, Huckabee, McCain, or a dead squirrel stuffed in a sock (AKA, Ron Paul), but vote. Please.

It matters.

The Potomac primary (MD, DC, VA) isn't until next Tuesday. :-p

Seriously, what's up with that? Being originally from Ohio, I'm used to my primary vote not meaning much, but this one is so tantalizingly close.

Does DC even seat delegates? I can't recall.

They send 38 delegates, it seems.

I live in Maryland, though, so I've got that going for me.

But some Republicans in DC register as Democrats, so they can have some sway, because there's no way DC will vote Republican in the general.

yup

was intending to go and vote and stuff....but is it gonna matter?

I think you guys probably will. Unless there's a massive landslide on one way or the other, Obama's lead in delegates is still going to be a little too slim to call him an outright winner, or for Clinton to overtake and be called the solid front-runner.

So, I imagine that the ones -close- to STDAY will matter because they may be the straws to break the camel's back, but Ohio's end of March primary is basically going to be a wash.

At least you have a better chance of getting noticed, as opposed to "Oh. Ohio voted. That's nice. You kids want a cookie?"

(Seriously, in 2004's primary? Unless I wanted to vote independent for all the third parties, the democratic ballot had -one box-. It was like voting for Hitler as the Chancellor of the Weimar Republic. One man, one vote, one choice. I can't even recall if there was a write in option.)

Much as I would like to vote?

1> PA's primary is not for another few weeks.
2> PA is particularly philistine in that people can only vote for candiates within the party they have registered with.

So in the unlikely event things remain undecided by the time it gets here? Independent voters such as myself are Irrelevant By Law outside of the november elections, barring any referendum questions that might appear.

The real kicker is that in a lot of local elections you regularly see the same name listed as a canidate within MULTIPLE parties. And it's not unusual to see this person as the only name running for said office because there are no canidates outside the traditional Republican/Democrat coinflip.

Haha. PA's primary is ... 4/22/08. Suddenly, I feel less guilty about being registered "no party."

Replace guilty with annoyed and you've got my opinion of the situation exactly.

I'm in limbo right now, so I can't vote in the primaries. Hopefully I'll be out of limbo and exist somewhere, or atleast be able to remote vote back in Tennessee come the time for the one that sorta of counts.

*nods* Understandable. I hope everything's settled soonish for you.

Also, I think the president should be decided by throwing all the candidates in a steel cage, chain saw death match. However, you just vote for one single candidate. And the portion of over all votes you get determines what percentage of a full tank of gas you get.

...I could deal with that.

McCain'd probably win that one, votes or not. Even if I don't like the way he went straight for hard conservative colon tissue this time around compared to 2000, he survived the freakin' tiger cages.
