I just got an "invitation" to go to the Obama rally on Wednesday. On the one hand, I'd have to take off of work.

On the other, how often does this happen? Regardless of who gets the nod, if they win the election, it's history.

Anyone else thinking of going? I admit that if I'm going to play hooky, I always feel better about being part of a team.

Oh, while I'm thinking about it - I got 7 more Blippr invites. Anyone else interested?

Entirely possible, but I know Skybus does have some cheap Florida fares. :D I suppose you could do it all in one day if the first flight was early enough.

I was in New York City four years ago after my grandmother's funeral when I was accosted in Union Square by some Kerry people who sent me to a young people's Kerry rally. It was surprisingly awesome.

If I didn't have to work, I might go. But I don't think it will be so special as you may think. I have a bit of experience in this, after all Mom ran campaigns for several congressmen and some statewide officials, and generally won what she ran.

There will be a bunch of 'rev them up' speeches, some better than others, and at least one will make a fool of the speaker (at least from my perspective as a former political scientist). But I would like to hear Obama himself speak. He is possibly the finest speaker of any American politician in my life.

I'd like to see that for myself. However my paycheck counts for more.

True enough - and sadly, any dreams of sneaking off of work were mostly killed by the way work kicked my team's collective asses up and down the street today. I got to work at 8, didn't take a lunch (unless you count scarfing at my desk while trying to figure out why One Of These Things Was Not Like The Other), and still left late. I think tomorrow's going to be just as fun.
