Shutout #9 for Pazzy!



Kinda sucks to be Bob Gainey tonight. Invite the Jackets up because Ken's an old friend and you gave him his start in the NHL (and perhaps expected us to be an easy target) on your jersey retirement night, and watch your team get smacked around all evening.

Federov left in the third, no explanation. Wasn't hurt, far as I can tell, just skated off the ice after a shift and didn't come back. I suspect that means a trade will be announced, or it's close enough to finalized that they didn't want to risk injury.

I suspect if that's the case, we're going to start seeing dominos fall very quickly leading up to the deadline on Tuesday...

Mis-calculated slightly on when the airfare for Cossack's wedding hit the bank vs. what my balance was, so I'm kinda broke til Friday.

OTOH, I get my regular check and my bonus on Friday, so if it was going to happen, this was a relatively good week for it to do so.

Meanwhile, Alex managed to get me the same gift as my parents for my Birthday. :D At least this time they kept the reciept! :D A trip to Barnes and Noble later, and I picked up Wanted, God Save The Fan, and Old Man's War on store credit in exchange. Not bad!

There's a new BBQ place down the road we went to with my parents for Lunch called the Cookshack. Some stuff was really good, some stuff wasn't that impressive compared to City BBQ or Hoggy's, but they do make fresh-cut pork rinds and potato chips on site that were mindblowing tasty.

Hmm.

I just got an "invitation" to go to the Obama rally on Wednesday. On the one hand, I'd have to take off of work.

On the other, how often does this happen? Regardless of who gets the nod, if they win the election, it's history.

Anyone else thinking of going? I admit that if I'm going to play hooky, I always feel better about being part of a team.

Oh, while I'm thinking about it - I got 7 more Blippr invites. Anyone else interested?

Mats Sundin has stated to the Leafs that he will not waive his NTC.

I've already heard a few people complain that he's "Costing the team" by not wanting to move.

Honestly, it's just another layer of the crap that Sundin's gotten from a certain section of the fanbase who will probably never forgive him for being the piece that came back to Toronto in exchange for sending Doug Gilmour out of town.

I think that you have to look at the fact that he's ready to retire, and he doesn't want to play his last games in a jersey he doesn't feel is his, with a bunch of guys who he doesn't know. He wants to go out with the guys he's been playing with for 15 years, in the city he loves, for the team he's played his heart out for.

"It's not in my heart to leave my teammates."

Who can really blame him for feeling that way?
