What I've learned from the DoW: Soulstorm demo

1) Dark Eldar suck.

2) The AI still doesn't handle moving large groups that well.

3) This "souls" resource for certain abilities is pretty lame.

4) MAN, Dark Eldar suck.

Who are the DE fighting against in the demo?

Marines, in the tutorial and all the sample missions, which also sucks. I really wanted a chance to look at the Sisters without having to buy the full game.

The general sense I'm getting about Soulstorm is that DoW is finally showing its general age.

Then again, I can't name many RTS games that have a similar product lifetime and don't end in -craft.

It's probably worth getting in Super Hujungous Collection form with all the other DoW content. You get practically everything but Tyranids, but that's OK; the 'Nids guest-star in Starcraft. ;)

Yeah, that sounds about right. I suppose it's time to wait for DoW 2. :D

I suspect that I will, eventually, get Soulstorm over Steam or something to complete the set, but I figure I'll wait until the price drops significantly at this point.

I played about halfway thru Dark Crusade before deciding "hell with this."

I haven't played any DoW since.

I dunno, I thought the Tau campaign was actually really good. The Necrons were kinda meh, but I thought that for $30 I got at least $15 or so worth of decent content.

Remember, the Necron is the standard measurement of Boring.

The near-total-vacuum of the Intestellar Medium measures at 1.2 Necrons.
