And then things stopped.
Mar. 18th, 2008 10:15 pmI was coming upstairs to post about the Jackets thrashing of Calgary, but the first thing I did was hit my RSS feeder, and things just stopped for a minute, because Arthur C. Clarke is dead.
I cannot -tell- you how many of his books I have read. Most of them, anyhow. Even some that I kinda wish I hadn't. (Garden of Rama? I'm looking at you.) If I had to guess about which three authors had the most influence on me as a kid, it'd probably be Asimov, Clarke, Gary Trudeau, and HST.
No more books. No more talks. No more guesses about what is coming down the road. (I have to wonder if anyone sent him a terabyte USB drive. Not quite the "Petabyte the size of a small book" he saw coming, but a big step, and a lot faster than 3001.)
Goodbye, sir, and good luck. I hope that you dream.
