The whole Post-Apocalyptic, Uh, Mexico thing amuses me. I'm surprised it wasn't Australia-- they have a hell of a set of incentives through their national film board.

calling the visual style applied to the 300 film "frank miller treatment" is unfair to both 300 and Miller.

hate to say it, but this one has tremendous suck potential.

Y'know, kinda, but OTOH, after seeing the trailers for Frank Miller's The Spirit, I'm honestly not giving a damn about being fair to Miller. :) I'm probably gonna dollar theater it for Samuel M.F. Jackson's crazy costumes, and walk away.

As to the Voltron suck potential, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and has been leaving little piles of duck shit all over....

I didn't even parse it as about the visual style. I just figured they were going to jazz up Voltron with some neoconservative raving-batshit political subtext and inappropriate grim fin-headed violence.

To be fair, I think the visual style thing comes out of how io9 started the article...but, yeah.
