Yes, I was pulling food out of the smoker when that tree came down.

Wow, I'm glad it fell into your yard and not your house! We also escaped our somewhat questionable trees wrath, as we had both vans parked out front trying to make a statement to the wrecker place that we and our neighbors really don't want the big trucks parked in front of our houses rahter than in their yard 24/7. Neighbors asked us to help since they don't HAVE any back parking like us. Lucky for us we agreed to help and have been keeping the vans there, that saved us a lot of money for a deductible and claim irritation. While my insurance dudes are pretty decent, I hate paperwork and trying to find things especailly wiht everything packed up for the incoming flooring.

Yeah, we got very lucky - just some gutter damage. If it had gone the other way, it would have gone into my bedroom! :D

I like my insurance guy, but I dn't really want to talk to him because of this... :)

We're having a very nice belated summer, actually. No wind, no rain, no freezing (except in our house for some reason). It's supposed to be sunny and in the 70's all this week. :)

My power and internets were fine (was raiding with a guy from Zanesville who kept having power flickers though). The only really scary part was that my whole apartment was shaking from the wind, and my windows were actually visibly bowing inwards with each gust. This evening I heard them nailing part of the roof back on above my head...

When we didn't hear back on Sunday or yesterday for the "OMG Survival" dinner, I was kinda figuring you managed to be in NC or out Finning it up during the whole thing. :)
