One thing I re-learned today is that part of the reason we don't buy new game consoles or home theatre gear more than once every year or two is how much of a pain it is to rearrange all those wires!
As it is, for some reason the Wii's regular AV cable doesn't seem to like me, so I had to use the component I got on instinct, but the problem is to use the Wii Component cable I had to unplug the 360's cable.
Don't be shocked if I mention getting a component splitter box to augment the receiver...but that's another show.
Dave, Alex, and I got everything working and messed around pretty dedicatedly from about 7:30 until um...jesus, 12:45am. Alex made an amazingly tasty bacon mac an' cheese in there, too.
Short impressions:
Megaman 9: MMMMMMMMM. That rich, earthy, old school flava.
Wii Sports:
-Bowling: Really fun! Alex has a wicked strike when he warms up
-Golf: I had a lot of fun. Dave found it a little too subtle for his normal playing style.
-Tennis: Even with an odd number (3) we all really enjoyed this. Worked up a nice sweat. My power serve has improved. Worked up a nice sweat.
-Baseball: Dave hits the long ball. Beisbol has been very, very good.
-Boxing: I SHOOK UP THE WORLD
WiiPlay: Um.....kinda ugh, actually. Felt less like a set of games and more like a demo disc that should have
been in the original Wii box. Laser hockey had a pleasant Tron feel, and the shooting gallery wasn't bad, but all things considered I wonder if I should have just bought a regular controller and saved $10.
Smash Bros Brawl: Tons of fun, but Dave must be kept away from Samus at all costs. Until I re-learn my Kirby skills. At which point, it is -on-, motherfucker.
No More Heroes: Dude. This.....doesn't take itself seriously at all, nor should it. I played this while Alex and Dave watched for the tutorial and first mission, and it was seriously entertaining for all of us. Might be one of the more fun games I've played this year. Certainly has the hilarious but obscene dialog down.
Good lord, it's 1:30. I should go to bed...
