HEY, KLEGMAN! READ THIS!
Nov. 14th, 2008 09:06 amNeed a turnstile? How about a Bernie Williams banner or a case of bobbleheads?
The "Cleaning out the Coop" Garage Sale the Clippers have planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday figures to be a good chance for local baseball fans to score an interesting item for their offices or rec rooms and help the team clean out Cooper Stadium before the move to Huntington Park.
"We've been going through the nooks and crannies of the stadium looking for things to put in the garage sale," Clippers historian Joe Santry said. "Every so often we look around and say 'Wow, where'd we get all this stuff?' "
The seats will stay with the stadium, if and when the county finds a buyer. (If there's auto racing in the Coop's future, fans will have to sit somewhere.) The hand-painted banners featuring faces of several past Clippers stars aren't part of the sale, either. They will go to the new park.
But if you envision the "400" sign that once marked the distance to the center-field fence on your living-room wall, this sale is for you.
I'm just sayin'.
That's all.
Yeah.
