Dad ordered an entire case(!) of kandy kakes one year as a Christmas present to me, and it lasted me a little over a year.

Ingredients

Krimpets

* 1 (16 ounce) box golden poundcake mix
* 4 egg whites
* 2/3 cup water

Frosting

* 1/8 cup Nestle Toll House butterscotch-flavored morsels
* 1/2 cup butter, softened
* 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Other

* 1 9mm revolver

Directions

1. Krimpets.

2. Preheat oven to 325ºF.

3. Beat egg whites till stiff.

4. Blend egg whites with cake mix and water.

5. Pour batter into a greased 9x12-inch baking pan.

6. Bake for 30 minutes, or till top is golden brown and toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Cool.

8. Frosting.

9. Melt butterscotch morsels in microwave on high for 45 seconds, or use double boiler over hot water.

10. *Do not let water boil*.

11. Mix butter with butterscotch, then add powdered sugar.

12. Blend frosting with mixer till consistancy is smooth.

13. Spread frosting atop cooled pound cake.

14. Cut cake into equal nine rows, then two cuts lengthwise.

15. Other

16. Grab revolver and prepare to defend your krimpets.

The color of the butterscotch is a little off. Most butterschotch chips have that light brown color, which imparts itself into the final product. The actual Tastykake Krimpets are almost pure white. Food coloring? This recipe is pretty close to the original in all other aspects.

Jersey Mike's doesn't have them, either. Those are the only places in C-Bus that actually sells a good Philly cheesesteak. Everything else in this town blows.

Also, unlike LA, Columbus isn't really a rest stop for most Philadelphians (or ex-Philadelphians)
