I was thinking about how I'd blog the meal and explain everything. (I may well cheat and feed Alex my pictures and let him do the work with his notes!)

Then, after we got in, Alex and I sat down to open my presents....and a day I didn't think could get better did.

That is my new tuxedo black Artisan KSM150 Kitchenaid mixer.

That is the cure for almost 18 years of Appliance Lust. Ever since I saw the Frugal Gourmet using one, I wanted one. I told myself that someday I'd have a house and I'd buy one. Even after I learned how freaking expensive they are, I promised myself that sometime I would get one.

I'd been very close to buying one with my tax return, until I made the decision to just save it. Then I talked about getting one with Alex and was kind of looking at buying one when I got my bonus.

Turns out that Alex and my family had already covered it.

Tomorrow, we are grocery shopping. The only question is just what I will make with it -first-.

Then we need to figure out what attachments we should get next...oh, yes....

From Thursday to Friday to Today, and everything that happened, it may just be the best birthday ever.

In no particular order I believe I shall make bread, no-bake mint drops, pretzels, and perhaps a cake.

...maybe not -all- tomorrow, but soon.

Don't forget

One tablespoon all-purpose rhubarb.
One teaspoon grated orange rhubarb.
Three tablespoons rhubarb, on fire.
One large rhubarb.
One cross borehole electro-magnetic imaging rhubarb.

Stilgar? Do we have cobbler?

Usul, we have cobbler the likes of which even GOD has never seen!

I knew we talked about it, and how much you wanted one, that's why I brought the idea up to your mom. When you started to talk about buying one with your tax return money, I panicked. Once I got you to divert the purchase until your bonus was when I knew I had time again :D

And yes, "this present intentionally left blank."

Thank you again. :)

And yeah, that was a good trick with the present. I was initially actually thinking it was another possible mixup, in fact. The box you used for that was almost the exact same size your new(er) St. Louis jersey came in, so for a minute I was thinking you'd ordered a new CBJ jersey for me after I already bought one!

The box size was actually a complete accident. I needed to bring SOMETHING to Cleveland, or you'd've thought I forgot, or that I was up to no good.

Well, I'm always up to no good, so... >.>

So this means you'll have me over for dinner, yes? :)

The general policy is that any time someone wants to come by for dinner, you're always welcome. :) Just give me a day's warning so I can go grocery shopping. Only exception is if you want me to use the smoker for something bigger than a rack of ribs or two. Then I usually want a week so I can get the right cuts of meat and do magic to them.

<3 my KitchenAid. I really need to use it more, though making cookies with chocolate chunks in it? The KitchenAid mixes it in a snap. Need the filling for the French Silk Pie whipped up nice? Oooooh yeah.

Way to go Alex & Family! :D

Eeee. <3!

I actually think the first thing I do is going to be the no-bake mint drops out of the recipe file that came with it. They look really tasty and a nice simple way for the mixer and I to get to know each other.

(Do you have the meat grinder or juicer attachments? I am so tempted to buy both ASAP...the ice cream and pasta makers are a little too hardcore for me right now, but I can see myself using the juicer or grinder almost right away.)

Nah, I don't have the attachments and don't plan on getting them either. I prefer the juice I can buy in the store and the meat... already cut, etc, also from the store.
