For the record:

No gout, no broken toe. Just an impacted, infected, ingrown toenail. (Ow.)

Taking antibiotics and have appointment with podiatrist to get the nail taken care of Wednesday.

Ingrown toenails are never fun. I had to deal with that regularly as a teenager. Thankfully, I haven't had one in over 12 years.

Don't worry though. Once that nail is trimmed out and you're drained of pus, you'll instantly feel ten times better.

Yikes, having had to deal with those a lot growing up - and watching as they removed the nail a few times - those are definitely not fun. One of the things that helped prevent them was cutting them into a V-shape, so that the nail grows toward the center instead of out to the sides. Seemed to help, and I haven't had many problems since!

As it is, the antibiotics should help, too, at least with some of the tenderness and swelling from the infection.
