Now that I feel more inclined to elaborate: seriously. ;) I'm not sure that that is our best saving grace or that we even need to be saved. ::wink:: Clearly, this line of thought was brought about by your Catholic upbringing. ;)

Episcopaelian, technically, but, let's face it. We tend to do Very Bad Things, as a species. :D

Perhaps it's less that we need saved, and more that we occasionally do things Very Good things to balance out the rest.
