my self-esteem is PRETTY LOW.

how do you measure up? find out, courtesy of emily.

Strangely enough, I feel pretty good today. :D

Interesting thing today, tho: Magic, Witchcraft, and Religion had a guest speaker today. Catholic woman who removes curses and is a medium. Sees those spirits who haven't passed on and tries to help them into the light. After class we were offered/strongly suggested to meet with her for 2 minutes apiece in the prof's office, just us and the medium, door locked. Class was even let out fairly early to give us the time.

So, I did it. She looks at me. I asked her what she saw.

"You have lots of residual negative energy all over you. Like you're taking or having it placed on you by friends or family, but it's not actually touching you." She started to offer me a packet of seeds she had blessed which she had mentioned she gave to people to help with protection, and then stopped and said I "had all the defenses I needed" from what she could see.

Heh.

I -am- the 500 pound gorilla.

Wow. I thought I was the only one who had read that book. (Well, except for the woman who recommended it to me.)

::wrinkles nose:: I dunno. You could. It's been a while since I read it. It's not really mind-blowing as I recall.

I guess what I'm saying is, it won't hurt you, might bore you, but don't move heaven and earth to do so. ;)

We'll leave it for when I have leisure reading time. :D

Isn't it wonderful? It was a text book in my Mythology class in college. I've read it three times now . . . Quite a lot to make one think of when considering our culture and its trappings.

Glad to know I'm not the only one here who appreciated it. ::smiles::

It was definitely very thought-provoking the first time I read it, about eight years ago. I re-read it more recently and couldn't relate to it as much.

Aye, the foundation of logic isn't completely sound . . . the third time I read it I was several years beyond the first reading. Still, the ideas presented opened me up during the original reading that I might otherwise have remained blind to for many years to come.
