Feb. 24th, 2002 07:04 pmWow. What a weekend. :D
I'm using mostly LJ ids or M3 character names, so try to keep up. :D
Yamato Man/Dr. Cossack arrived Friday night after I got back from Chorus. We went to C.W. Burgersteins, a local burger joint, and got dinner, then drove to Wal-Mart and loaded up the snaxxage. Cossack also split the cost on the Tron Special Edition DVD set as a b-day present with a bunch of posters and a mug from his radio station job, and I bought the Buckaroo Banzai DVD for myself. We watch movies and some hockey, hang out until 2am or so, then sleep.
Sat: We wake up groggy as fuck at 11am when Gemini Man calls to let us know she's on her way. (Yes. Gemini's player is a girl. DEAL. She's also DAMN hot. Pity she's pretty much engaged to some guy at BGSU.) Shower. Go to Lowry for breakfast. My new Geforce2 MX 400 w/64 MB of VRAM and TV-Out I bought with a small part of my tax return cash finally arrives. We wait for people to show up for 2 hours, figure that they are lost, then return to dorm and check email. They are, in fact, lost, when I check my voicemail. Get them to Lowry (Student Union). Walk back and get Gemini, Spiral Pegasus, Messenger Marou, and Marou's roommate. We deploy large amounts of stuff.
Iris from M3 calls at this point. :D We talk to her while Cossack plays/swears vigorously at Megaman X6. Skip forward about an hour.
Symphony calls, saying she's decided just to show up. I tell her to walk over from the Union and I'd meet her at the door.
sk4p and
ijikeru do something similar. We all meet up in my room. It turns out that sk4p and Spiral not only know each other, but hung out with the same TF MUSHing crew for the longest time. Weird goodness. :D Then we find out that Gemini used to know Symphony's ex-boyfriend in Bowling Green. Creepy? Yes, it is. We trade lots of Transformer and silly stories for a bit.
sk4p does something I am extremely honored by but will not discuss. Presents from this batch: 1 copy of the Hakagure, 1 beautiful Robin Wood painting, 3 tapes of video game music, a print of Gemini's Heat Man drawing for a class, more posters, a wall scroll, and an extremely sappy self-help book. (Thank you Symphony, you callous bitch! :D)
We go out to dinner at Ye Olde Jaol Tavern. Food gooooooood. Had my first alcohol ever: a bottle of Woodchuck Cider. Not bad. Go back to dorm for a bit, see
sk4p and
ijikeru off. :D Go Lasertagging.
sk4p will be glad to hear I scored a 160% effectiveness in the first game, and scored better than all the other M3ers, and then 234% in the second, also on top of the M3ers for that game. ;D (Though we were all on the same team for the second, so.)
We go to wal-mart for more STUFF. Symphony decided to buy me my "real present", 4 of the 5 RiD Combaticons. (Mega-Octane was out of stock! *sob!* I'm getting him from BBTS.com or Ebay, wherever I find him cheaper.) She also got a bottle of southern comfort and gingerale for highballs, and we headed back to play the Iron Chef drinking game. (Spiral also bought a bunch of Hornsby's Amber Cider at this point, though I missed it.)
Iron Chef is a retrospective epsiode, and therefore unplayable for the drinking game
I try a highball anyhow. Decided I really don't like SoCo. We end up being sent the following link by someone at M3: http://home.earthlink.net/~protogem/wilyshow.swf
We watch and laugh asses off at it. We generally screw around and watch a few movies and bad TV for the next few hours, including CN's rather uninspiring Anime Adult Swim from 11-2. Bleah. Only good one was Gundam 0083 and Tenchi. And if I'm complimenting 0083, it REALLY says something. (It's the worst damn UC series hands down.) Finally pass out around 3am.
Sun: Up at 7:25 for Choir. UGGGGGHEW. (For the note: Spiral Pegasus snores like a piledriver. I was told that I was actually "Minor" in terms of snoring compared to him. Dress in tux. Walk down. Breakfast. Sing. Choir concert has several major screwups, many of which are laid at the feet of our guest organist. Not all, but many. *BLEAH*
Get a ride back from Isa. (She's being decent, though fuming about the choir performance.) Get upstairs, and everyone is awake and wanting Fud!!!!. So, I get changed out of tux, and we head to the Java Well in Lowry Basement for some light stuff, then head back to room and decide to walk downtown and do some browsing/shopping. We walk the mile or a bit more to downtown, and find 2 stores of interest open. :D Store 1 is the new comics place, which to my chagrin has TONS of old battletech lead!
...But he wants $40 a figure for each of the out of production ones, and $25 for others that came out of some guy's collection. I bartered him to $30 for an Archer (WOO!) and a Shadow Cat. Both have really nice paint jobs, too. (The SC is clearly out of Clan Star Adder's Tau galaxy.) Pick them up, and the new issue of Transmetropolitan. Then go to used bookstore and get myself a Dr. Who novel (Iceberg. WOO Cybermen!) and Bloom County: Loose Tails, 1st printing, for $7. Then we go down to get coffee and snax at a really new nice coffee place in this remodeled buidling complex downtown. We then packed and sent people off, with one final trip to Wal-Mart where I bought the Transformers: The Movie DVD included.
I'm tired, and drained, but what a good time!
Gonna get my film developed tomorrow, to hopefully pick up Tuesday, then go make a website.
