You really have to be impressed by George Carlin, even if you don't like him.

The man is much closer to 70 than 60, and has been doing what he enjoys, non stop, since 1956. 1956! He's made a damn good living, still hits over 150 gigs a year, and even if you don't like his act (hell, I love his act but I'll admit his material can get repetitive), you really have to respect his professional success and continued moral stances.

Best of all? He's trained himself to play just as well to Doctoral candidates as he does to the guys down at the factory, and knows just how to hit the various gears.

This thought brought around by watching him briefly on the Tonight Show before falling asleep on Lisa, and thinking about how old he looked.

Quote of the day. Even if it came from two days ago:

Nothing says sexual frustration like transexual roleplay!

God DAMMIT.

I swore several years ago I'd stop writing plays. The ones I did weren't that good, and when I attempted serious writing rather than comic even my friends I showed them to at the time were pretty unsure.

But now [livejournal.com profile] kores_rabbit made a flippant remark about a 'One Man Stage Show on the life of Theodore Roosevelt'...and I'm starting to think about it.

It'd need someone capable of the power and the bombast, as well as showing the energy and joie de vivre...

But I'm already starting to see a script in my head. May have to actually write it, too.

Maybe confine it to College/First Marraige *break* Montana to Presidency *break* Post-Presidency?

Or perhaps a retrospect done by Roosevelt himself, set in the period where he waits for Tad's recovery after his near-death in their African safari? Nostalgia? TR was a man of few doubts, but perhaps a regret or two.

Hmm. Roosevelt reminiscing over the bedside of his comatose son...

Can't have Tad waking up, tho. Will have to fade the lights while TR is speaking, though after the story is finished.

Perhaps something like this... )
