Ugh. It's one of those days where I'm supposed to do 'a few things' at work, and I keep getting stuff put on my desk because everyone else is on a project or in meetings. It sucks pretty hard.

Especially when your boss gives you three things in the morning that you set up to take care of first thing after lunch....and then you get back from lunch and there's 3 more things she wants you to do before the three she already gave you. (Fortunately, at least, all of them can be done from my desk, so I get to safely vent a bit and not freak the hell out.)

And I get to go to a meeting at 3! Yay.

In other disturbing news: I think my parents are growing a social life. I just got an email where they talked in glowing terms about going to the Shadowbox Cabaret at Easton and having drinks with some friends while they watched a show, and wanted to know if I and 'some friends' would like to come with them to their next big winter show so they can get discount tickets and invite more people.

Yeaaah. Because all I want to do this winter is go to a club and get liquored up with my parents.

Well, that was a fun 2 hour meeting!

It really wasn't too bad. The joys of having a department that gets along pretty well.

One thing that came out of it, though, I'm kinda iffy about. It's just a proposal, at this point, but still...

With the upcoming rework of our PC vendor contract, they're starting to get a lot of offers for on-site support. Between that and some local companies offering on-site support and doing hardware support, they're seriously considering phasing out our internal hardware support and giving it to vendors.

I can see goods and bads in this. One particularly is that it could really reduce the chances that I'd have a chance at a longer term position here. I may not have to worry about that anyhow, but it comes to mind. Plus, I really can't decide if this is the right way to go. Fellow techies reading this, can you guys give any input if your workplaces or nearby shops have done something similar, and how it worked out?

Meef.

Talked to Lisa, and it was wonderful. Talked about our families, each other, and life. It was really, really good. I miss her.

On the downside, yes, the asshat was involved in the phone...situation...and tried to 'help' by cleaning up her computer so it would run faster. So he started uninstalling everything he could, and deleting files.

I'll pause so all my techie friends can wince.

Her machine now comes up to the login....and bsod's. And she can't find her windows disk. Found her code, but not the disk. So I'm gonna get some help for that. And we'll just go on.

I really wish she was here, though.

On the upside, wrote an app for the UC 0079 Gundam MUSH that [livejournal.com profile] nachitor is promoting. Should be a lot of fun.

For some reason, the Best Buy up here was selling their only copy of the LotR Soundtracks box set for a bit more than 50% off retail.

I say was because I impulse bought it upon seeing the price. I'd seen it there before, but I wasn't paying $55 or 60 for it.

$25, though....hee.

Have I mentioned that I'm Howard Shore's bitch? This music, it's so beautiful as to break your heart and then lay the pieces down and put them back together again with a kiss.

Oh, yes, this goes on the iPod...
