Here's a little tidbit that I just acted on, may fix that device bug, and people should know. (I had to google and do some MS page digging to find it)
If you install DirectX 9.0a or 9.0b, you must uninstall and reinstall your display device drivers for your system to operate properly, or the system may become unstable, including possible program crashes or fatal system errors.
So, did so, system still seems stable again, and I will attempt re-install of SWG tomorrow.
Between this and the lovely time spent with my sweet
skarlette today on the phone and online, I think I'm going to sleep a hell of a lot better.
( Oh. And a meme. )
