But, this is your ego post, Amanda, so relax and hopefully enjoy it after that.
For someone that I've met in person all of...three times? You've been a very solid friend.
At some of the nastier parts of my recent life, when I was very down and didn't feel I had anyone to possibly turn to, you pulled me up and showed me that things really weren't as bad as I thought. No matter when we talk, you always have something that's good to say or generates a laugh (even when I absolutely was in no mood to find anything funny) and despite all the shit you've waded through, you keep going.
You live in one of the best cities ever. I have always loved Toronto, when I've visited it, and I do envy you guys for living there, occasionally.
You've found a very good guy in Carl, which definently explains why you're marrying him, and you have always been a good match for him. I'd say you're his equal in pretty much every way that matters, not to mention his compliment.
You manage to be a grown up tomboy who accepts (if she doesn't always like) the girly side, and you seem to really be coming into your own in your new degree. I think you're going to find a very solid path as you get this one done and start looking at things beyond Guelph.
(But let's face it: You got the B.Sc. in Genetics already. That means you're really damn smart anyhow!)
You're very conscious of the good in people: I think that's why you've made such a good and memorable Rock. You defend a lot of people reflexively from hatred or unfounded aggresssion, and you even manage to look at people driving you utterly nuts and find some good things to say about them. (Particularly when it comes to your family. I don't know how you do it...)
Speaking of Rock: When I was on M3 (lo, how I sound like an old man now...) you were always, always, ALWAYS good RP. I can't think of a time when we decided to do a scene and it wasn't fun and fairly rewarding, and even when I was just a spectator it's always been a treat to watch you go. Both OOC and IC you're very fun to work with, and I got some very big kicks out of the ways we'd poke at each other when we weren't sceneing.
You're a very solid technogeek, and you're all about drooling at the shinies.
And when it comes down to it...
