Dec. 25th, 2005 01:55 amWell, that was a day.
We started with 40k with
dklegman around midnight, then sleep, then helping Alex with his final shopping bits. After returning from that, we had a bit of football, then we drove over to get Lisa from the girlfriends she hung out with last night to avoid the Boys Night Out, and we all sort of flopped again before changing and heading over to my parents to drop off stockings, get my sister, frantically hunt for mushrooms and an Orange after all the stores had closed (long story), and drive out to my parent's church in Newark.
After a potluck dinner, a whirlwind of introductions, and some christmas carols, the service began.
It was a good service, with a touching sermon, and the new rector is so Minnesotan it hurts. (He litterally had a "yaknow" in every third sentence that wasn't scripture.) My grandparents also arrived somewhere in there. The only downer is that I'm apparently allergic to something in the church, because I started sneezing my head off, and it stopped as if a switch was thrown after we left.
Drove back to my parents, helped my grandparents unload food and presents before they went back to the hotel, decided to head home ourselves, got hungry, decided to see if Lee Garden was open, turned out they were (!!) and at 1:00am we celebrated the birth of Christ with dumplings and spicy fried squid.
Drove home, sleep soon, then we get back up, load the car with presents, mulled wine, cakes, ham and ham glaze/brandying components, drive to my parents, cook christmas dinner, do presents, and do anything else we forgot in there.
It's been busy.
It's been pretty good.
The best part so far is still discovering that Lee Garden was open, and will be open all day tomorrow as well. It was like having my own personal A Christmas Story moment.
Wheeesleep.
