Mm. Not bad at all.

Still no free swag thingy. Oh, well. Having dinner with grandparents in a few hours, and taking care of car payment. (My parents were originally gonna pick it up, but then Alison's condition got worse, and Grandma called me to say they wanted to help.)

Alison...yeah. I got a call the other day. The tests have determined it's not her heart muscles, it's a deficiency in how her nervous system operates at transmitting autonomic signals. They don't know if it can even be stablized yet, let alone fixed. She's going to see more specialists.

Yeah, I am worried. I wish...I wish we knew more.

The answer to that question lies in your view of the world. Whether you blame fate, genetics, otherworldly beings, or something else, the answer won't be easy in coming. I asked similar questions when my sister had similar issues. I still do. You can find a satisfactory answer out there, I'm sure.

The universe does not deign to answer our questions when we ask it why things occur. I have learned this from many hard experiences, and have come to accept that there are areas of experience that will always evade my probing.

Since we cannot expect answers, we can occupy ourselves in other ways. We can choose to live our lives to the fullest, doing things that we love with the time we have. Sometimes that is a long time. Sometimes it is not.

But it is not the quantity, but the quality of the time that is truly important. In the end, we are all just a blinking of the world's eye.
