If I had room (and if I regularly gamed anymore), something like this would be an awesome project.
On the other hand, this would be tough to work in a group like mine, where the membership present varies anywhere between four and nine (and occasionally more). I suppose a workaround would be to make a less sophisticated table with regular insets for dice and pencils.

Shame I never met anyone in my area that played DnD when I was younger, or I might've had some impetus to try and build something like this.
