...

There was just this gigantic pop sound in my ear.

And then...I CAN HEAR.

Hurts like a bitch, and I can still feel pressure and not so nice in there, but I CAN HEAR.

It's a curiously strong relief.

With any luck, the doctor's appt. tomorrow will be rudimentary, now.

WOO!
I had something like that happen to me once. Wasn't an infection, fortunately, but. Man, it was annoying. My sympathies!

Ne ne, let us know how the appointment goes, if you would? ^_^

I've had that problem a time or two in the past, so I admit to some curiosity as to what might be causing it. So if you get a good explanation, I'd be quite interested in hearing it.

Well, what I hope/suspect is that I know they said my inner ear was -really- swollen. I wonder if something got compressed or swelled shut, and finally worked back loose?

Its entirely possible - its a problem I get that is usually associted with water. A drop of water gets stuck in your ears, perhaps, and surface tension keeps it from breaking and presses it against your eardrum?

It almost feels like something similar to that breaking when the pressure finally goes away, but I really am not sure. So I am interested in what you find out.

You may have a perforated eardrum. That wouldn't necessarily affect your hearing adversely, but it would cause that godawful pressure-pain you're experiencing.

Even that's receding today, and when I called to see if the Doctor still wanted me to come in and have my hearing/ears checked, I was told that it seemed to only be swelling, and I don't need to worry about it.

Hopefully they'll be right. :D
