Jun. 1st, 2003 06:09 pmSo. After much shopping around, I settled on a 25" GE tv, with S-video and 3 different A/V jacks, as well as full A/V output, and it's own internal surround sound stereo speakers. I also picked up an S-video/AV Monster Cable for the Xbox, and a power cord for the new printer I got yesterday. (HP Deskjet 940c)
I had considered a 27" Toshiba which would have been another $50, but on discussion with
jwhorfin, we agreed that 2" of screen was not worth that much. As it turns out, it would have also made the TV near impossible to get into the door.
GOD DAMN.
It's just cool to have a huge TV, but it's more than that.
Mechassault is incredibly crisp and clear. Thanks to the surround, I can even hear the sweet tinkle of autocannon shell casings, and the unique sounds of crushing buildings, and different damage sounds from weapons in a way which I never had before on my old TV's non-surround sound.
The cable looks much better, though I admit some snow and such due to the college's ongoing replacement of converters.
DVDs look gorgeous.
I think this is the best $200 I've ever spent on toys.
