Dictatored? Chile hasn't had a depostic regime, the likes of which you -tried- to refer to, in almost fifteen years. That is largely thanks to the US keeping out of their business long enough for them to form a democracy.

Also, as far as 'torturing spiders', I have to point out that most entomologists believe that insects (and lesser arachnids) do not feel pain at all. A creature that doesn't think, indeed that doesn't feel pain, cannot then be tortured.
