The morning began far too early and after only 3 hours of sleep. Blargh! Though the reasons I stayed up late were more than worth any discomfort. I think I knocked about $100 onto the credit card. Not bad for a weekend of vacationing. Even have some stuff other than gas to show for it. :D The neatest being an honest to god Chamber action figure that demeterschild and I found at Bookery.

Sitting in a prof's office doing a machine upgrade, waiting for metric fuckloads of files to upload to the server before I disconnect this thing and put the cable into his new 17" flatpanel iMac. Wheee.

Got the car to the dealership to have (hopefully) those last problems dealt with and handled. To my pleasant surprise, I was given a brand new Spectra as my rental. Not bad at all for $12 a day. The roof's a little short for my taste, but I could get used to leather seats and a v8, you know?

In major news to my readers: The BotCon plans currently have Steve, Noelle, and I arriving at the Hyatt about 5pm. (We ended up needing to drive.) skarlette plans to meet us for dinner when she gets off work at 8, so if people'd like to get themsleves to Chicago and we can play a bit of introductions and arrangements while we determine how the room will work.

Past that, it's Monday, and why can't it be the weekend? Only other thing somewhat journalworthy is that I noticed Har's taken me off his list. This makes me a semi-sad panda, as even when we disagreed I've always found him decent enough, and certainly a fun writer to read. Who knows. Maybe I'll pop in at 2k5 and check in on how things go for him there, someday. For now, our roads have forked away, and we'll see what happens in the future.

I also have a feeling I'm gonna go home and crawl into bed when work's over. I'm awake, but I feel like I'm doing a good zombie impression.

I don't have any issues sleeping on the floor, I can plan accordingly. I'll bring a backpack mattress of some sort. Especially considering we'll be rooming with two couples, it makes better sense. Any idea what the room rate is? I know you've already made very clear intentions about the exclusives, but I'm curious if we can't use the double to remit some of the room cost.

What is parking like at the Hyatt? If it is secured/pay lot, will we be able to get vouchers for more than one car? As it stands, I can ditch my car with my partner for the weekend if we have mobility, I figure Audra will have a car as well. This means I'll be hitching a ride should we venture into town.


I'll try and snag you on M3 tonight or this week, there's another quick issue I'd like to chat with you about.

Room rate is $120 a night, last I checked, but I will confirm, and the exclusives we'll figure out should we actually get them, since they're running short, it seems. Hyatt Parking is a pay lot, with anyone mentioning they're there for Botcon/OTFCC getting a flat $30 rate for the entire weekend regardless of entrances exits, and we ought to have Steve's car and Audra's, plus I at least was planning on springing for a $20 unlimited CTA pass, since we're right on the blue line and can use the CTA to do worlds of good. :D

As to the rest, I'll do my best to be on tonight for the grabbing. Talk to you then!

Current plan is to arrive in the 2-6 CST time, depending on when we shove off and how long we dally at lunch (I'm meeting an old student in Kalamazoo.)

I have no electronic leash! No boats, no goats no motorcars..... ehm. Anyways, I don't carry a cellphone, pager, or even a watch, so I will do my best to give you a heads up and should I arrive early, I'm sure there'll be some other BotConners I need to catch up with. We can finalize meeting stuff next week when my plans firm up.
